You’ve probably heard that you should have your furnace maintained regularly, but is it really necessary or is it just something furnace companies say to drum up business? We can attest that regular maintenance is necessary and by not scheduling it, you could be actually giving us more business! A properly maintained heating system will be less prone to major issues requiring extensive (and costly) repairs. Here are a few reasons that we recommend that our customers have their furnaces maintained yearly:

  • A huge and very valid reason is your warranty. In many cases, you might have issues with what is covered under your warranty if you don’t stick to the manufacturer’s recommended maintenance schedule. That could be a costly mistake if something does happen outside of your control.
  • Maintenance inspections help ensure that all of the components of your furnace are working properly so that you stay warm, but also, and maybe more importantly, they make sure that everything is in good working order so that your family is safe. Problems with your furnace could lead to a fire or carbon monoxide exposure.
  • Maintenance can help catch any issues before they become major problems that could lead to your furnace not working at all. This can help extend the life of your system and protect your investment, but it can also help prevent repair calls.

Much like any other investment, like your car or your home in general, routine maintenance is required to keep it functioning properly for as long as possible. Of course you don’t have to change your oil regularly or get your teeth cleaned by a dentist, but if you don’t you could have much worse problems down the road.
